As TPM’s Tierney Sneed reported, historic preservation groups are teaming up with neo-Confederates to sue New Orleans over a move to take down Confederate monuments in the city. David Duke—the white supremacist and former KKK leader—has also taken to the pro-monument cause. In 2004, Duke held a rally at one of the monuments—an obelisk commemorating a white supremacist revolt after the Civil War.

Josh Marshall: “The new Clinton-Trump ‘feud’ over being the top recruiter for ISIS plays completely into Clinton’s strategy which is, in essence, to bring the Republican primary battle to a close with Donald Trump as the winner.”

Say What?!

“Hell no.”

– The Clinton camp was adamant that Hillary would not apologize to Trump for her comments that he was ISIS’ biggest recruiter.

BUZZING: Today in the Hive

From a TPM Prime member: “So, as Josh just noted, a huge fountain of future objection to Obamacare will be that what we pay for health insurance will continue to rise at a larger rate than inflation in general. I think this is an interesting issue, because it has huge potential for opposition liars while, at the same time, it does point to a weakness in Obamacare. First: Yes, rates have climbed since the Affordable Care Act was enacted. However, those rates were climbing, at double digit clips, before the ACA was enacted. Second: The first problem is a problem. The ACA successfully brought insurance to the uninsured, but the uninsured were a minority. But the best that was ever done for the vast majority of people who get health insurance through an employer, was the assurance that you could “keep your doctor.” That was a rotten promise because it offered something people already had and was easily broken in certain instances. Overall, the ACA did very little for people who were already insured. For those of us in the majority, who get health insurance as compensation, and who saw premium increases or benefit changes this year, the ACA seems to have done us no favors. It does kind of seem, in the end, that the ACA was all about the uninsured while ignoring the needs of the insured majority, who have been getting screwed for years paying too high premiums for too little service.”

Related: Health insurance rates went up substantially more before Obamacare.
