As for whether Cruz knows how to go “viral,” TPM’s Brendan James points out that the post is doing modestly well by BuzzFeed standards with 400,000 shares on Facebook a couple of days after posting.

Ben Miller believes that for-profit colleges can serve a necessary function for low-income working adults who want to go back to college, but in order to function well they must remain relatively small-scale and selective, restricting admission to those with full-time jobs, some employment experience, and some college credit.

From a TPM Prime member: “And it kinda hit me how Robertson’s panic-attack reveals something hidden in plain sight. Those that believe as he does have no faith in their own convictions. He doesn’t think his faith, and the morals and values it espouses, can stand on their own merits. He clearly believes that his flock, and Christian believers in general, will easily abandon not only their faith, but their own personal sexual preferences, just because others who hold a different set of values and beliefs are allowed to go about their own private business without punishment or ostracization. By extension, we see that he believes his faith must be enforced by government in order to endure. That’s the opposite of freedom of religion.”
