A Connecticut man who accidentally shot himself with a gun in his waistband while riding a bicycle initially blamed it on a local gang, the Associated Press reported Friday.
Stratford police charged 22-year-old Wendell Docteur with making a false statement to authorities, including the unlawful discharge of a firearm during the May incident. Docteur posted a $10,000 bail and is due for arraignment on Sept. 5.
