Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said Tuesday that “crazies” within the Republican party are keeping House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) from pushing through immigration reform legislation in his chamber unless he has a “majority of the majority.”
“The Speaker has said within a period of a little over 24 hours, we’re going to pass an immigration bill” with the help of Democratic votes, Reid said at his weekly press conference.
“As soon as these crazies heard that, I guess they talked to him and he — the next day he came back and said, ‘I will only pass it if I have majority of the majority,'” he added. “The point is: I’m not sure [Boehner] or anyone else in the GOP leadership in the House really know what they’re doing.”
