Introducing an assault weapons ban in the Senate Thursday, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) said that the purpose of the ban is to “dry up the supply of these weapons over time” rather than take guns away from those who already have them.
“We have tried to recognize legal defense rights,” Feinstein said. “We have tried to recognize the right of a citizen to legally possess a weapon. No weapon is taken from anyone. The purpose is to dry up the supply of these weapons over time. Therefore, there is no sunset on this bill.”
