The NY Times reports that PM David Cameron and former PMs Gordon Brown and John Major will be among the British politicians to testify next week about their ties to executives of News International, the British newspaper subsidiary of Rupert Murdoch’s News Corporation. Cameron’s former director of communications, Andy Coulson, was forced to resign after the phone-hacking scandal last year, and has been charged with lying under oath in a case in Scotland.
In addition to the current and former prime ministers, a series of other “political luminaries” will also be forced to testify, including Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne, Deputy PM Nick Clegg, and Scottish first minister Alex Salmond.
