Romney: Possibility I’m Not The Nominee Is ‘Extremely Remote’

Mitt Romney said Monday that the possibility that he will not be the Repubican nominee is “extremely remote.” Romney, appearing on Mike Huckabee’s new radio show as its first-ever guest, discussed his chances and echoed Newt Gingrich’s comments that Romney is “far and away” most likely to be the nominee.

It’s kind of hard for anybody to get the delegates to pass me at this stage. So it looks pretty good. But I know the other guys are still in there so we’re gonna keep on campaigning in each of the early primary states until we have the nomination wrapped up.

Romney more or less agreed with Gingrich’s assessment of the race:

In all likelihood, I will be the one that gets the delegates to become the nominee. That’s not a sure thing. There’s always the possibility of some kind of discontinuous event that changes everything, but I think that’s extremely remote. I think he feels the same way.
