A Christian values group called Iowans for Christian Leaders in Government has sent a letter to prominent Iowan evangelical Bob Vander Plaats, CEO of The Family Leader, urging him not to endorse Newt Gingrich. The group sited Gingrich’s instances of adultery as reason not to endorse him. The group also pointed to personal and financial connections between Gingrich and Vander Plaats. The letter expresses a fear that his endorsement “may be guided, not by prayer and conviction, but by personal benefit and prior relationships.”
