The news conference came just as the state of California issued a new shelter-in-place mandate that urges residents to stay home and not leave for anything but “essentials.” Since then New York has issued a similar declaration.
During the presser, Trump made a plethora of headlines, most dramatically when he insulted a reporter for asking about Americans fears over the virus and when he contradicted his own task force chief on the effectiveness of a specific therapy drug to combat the virus.
