Hello, and welcome.
This is day one of what I hope will be a fruitful experiment in online reporting and analysis: A landing spot for the sort of congressional reporting you’re accustomed to reading at TPM, but also for smaller scoops, analysis, snark, etc., that may not have a natural home in our news pages, but which news junkies and Congress-watchers might enjoy anyhow.
I’d also like to use this site as a forum, to interact more closely with readers and field tips and suggestions to fuel the site. At its best, I’d like it to combine the web’s nimbleness with the on-the-scene reporting I do just about every day from the Capitol. If there are questions I should be asking, or angles I haven’t considered, or scoops that need a home, I want to hear from you.
To that end, follow me on Twitter, drop this link into your RSS Reader, bookmark the site and email me: brian at talkingpointsmemo dot com.
We’ll be updating this site in the days and weeks ahead. I’m happy to consider design suggestions as well. In the meantime, we’re in for a busy month. Congress will act (or fail to act) on tax cuts, federal spending, START, Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, unemployment, and other major issues before the year is out. I hope this site will serve as a resource for keeping tabs on all those developments.
