Chart(s) Of The Day: GOP Falling In Love With Herman Cain, Spurning Rick Perry

Picking up a theme that TPM expounded upon Tuesday morning, there’s some very real data backing up businessman Herman Cain’s recent burst in the polls: GOP voters just seem to like the guy.

See these two charts from data released earlier on Tuesday, one from some new numbers from an ABC News / Washington Post poll, and another from Gallup’s tracking polls. There’s one clear narrative here: Cain has consistently ramped up his charm offensive on Republican primary voters, where Perry has fallen out of favor. And by fallen out of favor, it’s really more of an incredible fall from grace.

Gallup shows us that the likeability of Perry, the former GOP frontrunner (from last week), and Cain, who’s first surge was in early Spring, has literally forked. Check out the graph below:

The ABC/WaPo poll shows that the more that GOPers become familiar with Cain, the more he increases his standing. From the Post:

The GOP race is completely in flux right now and swinging wildly as Republicans fall in and out of love with different candidates (sometimes twice, as with Cain).
