Rep. Allen West (R-FL), a Tea Party icon well known within conservative media, hinted that Herman Cain needs to wrap things up in a radio interview on Wednesday.
“Beyond reassessing his campaign, he probably needs to understand that he is a distracter for what’s going on right now and we should move on,” West told WMAL on Wednesday. He added that the contest had become a “two-man race” between Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney.
Right-wing pundits and pols circled the wagon around Cain when his initial sexual harassment scandal broke, but the candidate appears to be getting nowhere near the same levels of support after a woman in Atlanta, Ginger White, claimed she had a 13-year affair with the presidential candidate. West is probably the highest profile conservative to actively suggest he should consider stepping aside.
