The New Hampshire Senate race has become a dead heat, according to two new polls.

Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen leads Republican Scott Brown by 49-47 percent among likely voters in a CNN/ORC survey released Thursday, within the margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

Shaheen trails Brown by a thin margin of 47.7-47.3 percent in a New England College poll of likely voters released Wednesday, inside the margin of error of plus or minus 3.23 percentage points.

Shaheen, a first-term senator and former governor, has long been seen as the favorite to win the race. Brown, a former Massachusetts senator, has gradually closed the gap in recent months.

The candidates clashed in a televised debate on Oct. 20 in Concord, N.H.

The CNN survey was conducted from Oct. 18-21. The New England College survey was conducted from on Oct. 16.
