A new Public Policy Polling survey conducted on behalf of the League of Conservation Voters finds Rep. Bruce Braley just barely retaking the lead in the Iowa race for U.S. Senate against state Sen. Joni Ernst, the Republican nominee in the race.

The new poll found Braley leading Ernst 48 percent to 47 percent with another 5 percent undecided. The latest PPP survey on behalf of LCV is the first since May which found Braley leading Ernst.

The poll was conducted from Oct. 17 to Oct. 16 among 714 likely voters. It had a margin of error of 3.6 percentage points.

The last PPP poll conducted in late September found Ernst leading Braley 44 percent to 42 percent with the late Libertarian candidate Douglas Butzier getting 2 percent.

The poll’s findings underscore how serious this race has been. Ernst has proven to be a surprisingly formidable challenger against Braley since she won the nomination.

The TPM Polltracker average finds Ernst leading Braley by 2.3 points.

the best thing braley has going for him is joni ernst. every time she opens her mouth something outrageous comes out. she is a nightmare.

  3. Iowans are realizing that, while Braley may be an idiot, Joni Ernst is a lunatic. It’s taken so long because the media has been bizarrely unwilling to call her out on her Akin-quality BS.

  4. I read this morning in WaPo that GOTV efforts in IA and Colorado were reaching out to Dems that did not even vote in 2010 on top of the voters that did.

But the kicker is that these efforts would start to show up late in the polling. Here’s hoping their right…

  5. Iowans are slowing learning what a nutbag the TEAhadist, ERNST really is. Dems will hold this seat.
