A new Public Policy Polling survey conducted on behalf of the League of Conservation Voters finds Rep. Bruce Braley just barely retaking the lead in the Iowa race for U.S. Senate against state Sen. Joni Ernst, the Republican nominee in the race.
The new poll found Braley leading Ernst 48 percent to 47 percent with another 5 percent undecided. The latest PPP survey on behalf of LCV is the first since May which found Braley leading Ernst.
The poll was conducted from Oct. 17 to Oct. 16 among 714 likely voters. It had a margin of error of 3.6 percentage points.
The last PPP poll conducted in late September found Ernst leading Braley 44 percent to 42 percent with the late Libertarian candidate Douglas Butzier getting 2 percent.
The poll’s findings underscore how serious this race has been. Ernst has proven to be a surprisingly formidable challenger against Braley since she won the nomination.
The TPM Polltracker average finds Ernst leading Braley by 2.3 points.
