Republican Joni Ernst now leads Democrat Bruce Braley in the Iowa Senate race, according to a Des Moines Register poll released Sunday.

Among likely voters, 44 percent supported Ernst while just 38 percent said they would vote for Braley.

The Des Moines Register poll echoes a shift found in a Quinnipiac poll from mid-September. In September Quinnipiac poll, Ernst led Braley 50 percent to 44 percent among likely voters. In a June Quinnipiac poll, Braley was leading Ernst 44 percent to 40 percent among registered voters.

According to TPM’s Polltracker average, Ernst is leading Braley by just 1.1 points.

Selzer & Co. surveyed 546 likely voters Sept. 21-24 for the Des Moines Register with a margin of error plus or minus 4.2 percentage points.
