Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has increased her nationwide lead to 12 percentage points in the Democratic primary contest, according to a Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday.
The poll showed support for Clinton at 50 percent, while Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) stood at 38 percent. This indicates both a sizeable gain of six percentage points for Clinton, whose support was at 44 percent in February’s iteration of the poll, and a four-point drop in support for Sanders, who was at 42 percent last month.
This result is consistent with most recent polling, which shows the gap between Sanders and Clinton growing wider again after it previously narrowed to within ten percentage points.
TPM’s PollTracker Average shows Clinton at 50.1 percent, followed by Sanders at 41.5 percent.
The Quinnipiac poll was taken from Mar. 16-21 by live telephone interview. Pollsters surveyed 635 registered voters likely to participate in the Democratic primary, with a margin of error of 3.9 percentage points.
