A second former top official from Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s (R) administration has released a video bashing Walker and endorsing his Democratic opponent, according to a Monday ABC report.
In an attack ad released Monday, former Department of Financial Institutions Secretary Peter Bildsten pilloried Walker for only caring about his donors and backed Democrat Tony Evers.
This comes on the heels of former Corrections Secretary Ed Wall’s commercial in which he also throws his weight behind Evers. Wall reportedly wrote a memoir detailing the mismanagement rampant in Walker’s administration.
Both of them also claimed that Walker pressured them to circumvent open records laws.
Wisconsin Republican Party spokesman Alec Zimmerman countered the claims on behalf of Walker’s campaign.
“Tony Evers is so desperate to distract from his failed record that he keeps peddling debunked statements from disgruntled ex-employees who have an agenda to push after leaving on bad terms,” said, reacting on behalf of the governor’s re-election campaign,” he said. “These attacks have been repeatedly shown to be false, including in a statement by Wall himself making clear that he had ‘never been instructed’ to circumvent records laws.”
These shots could damage the governor, who is trying to hang on in the most competitive race of his political career.
