NEW YORK (AP) — Rosie O’Donnell is back on “The View” for a most unexpected second act.

ABC said Thursday that O’Donnell will return to the daytime chatfest, whose couch is nearly empty with the on-air retirement of show creator Barbara Walters and impending departures of Jenny McCarthy and Sherri Shepherd.

O’Donnell, the veteran comedian and daytime host, spent a combative eight months on “The View,” ending in 2007. She feuded with since-departed conservative co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

O’Donnell came back as a guest on “The View” earlier this year, a sign that relations had thawed.

Hmmm-the ABC Execs chose Rosie over the Wasilla Hillbilly. Imagine that!

  4. Have seen little of this program but one could easily get the impression that based on their behavior all women are harpies. Talking over each other, fuming in faux outrage, then smiling as “Time for commercial.” I’ll stick with my morning newspaper and coffee.

  5. Well I, for one am thrilled.
I watched this whole saga for years. I remember when Rosie first came on as moderator. I remember Hasselbeck accusing her of hating the troops. I remember FOX villifying Rosie and treating Hasselbeck like a hero. I remember when Rosie expected Hasselbeck to stick up for her and at least acknowledge she did not hate the military and how Hasselbeck would not - even though they were supposed friends and colleagues. And yes, I remember the blowout that day and how Rosie quit after that episode.

I also remember Hasselbeck’s career rise, all because she took on that mean military hatin lesbian librul. And she relished it.
And now Rosie is back. The show when she was on was so refreshing. The staff seemed to be on their toes and it was really fun to watch. Rosie is wayyyy more engaging than any of those other hosts ever was or could be. She just has that type of personality. It’s clear the producers of the show saw it too, on the reunion show (Barbara’s last day before “retirement”). Rosie was again engaging, when she talked you just wanted to hear what she had to say (she talked about having a heart attack and it wasn’t boring — you really wanted to hear more)

I am so happy for Rosie. I will definitely start watching more regularly now.

A bonus is that Hasselbeck is PISSED. I love it!!!
