Police: Wife Of Eagles Co-Founder Dies In Accidental Shooting

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Los Angeles authorities say the wife of former Eagles band member Randy Meisner was killed when a rifle she was handling accidentally discharged and shot her in the head.

A police news release says officers found 63-year-old Lana Rae Meisner dead on Sunday from a single gunshot wound at the couple’s home in the San Fernando Valley.

Investigators say Lana Rae Meisner lifted the rifle from a storage case when another item inside shifted and hit the trigger, causing the gun to fire.

Police say Randy Meisner was cooperative throughout the investigation. Officials say police had responded to the home earlier Sunday and took a domestic violence incident report.

Randy Meisner co-founded the Eagles and co-wrote and sang the hit “Take It To the Limit.” He played bass and guitar and left the band in 1977.

    Not, accidental. Period.

  2. I can’t tell you why.

  3. Domestic incident a few hours earlier? I’d say police are still putting this together. Could be a murder or suicide. Could also be a pissed off lady grabbing stuff out of the closet, or she was grabbing the gun to go shoot his ass, etc. But I am sure police are not done investigating this.
