White House senior adviser Jared Kushner deflected a question from Fox News’ Sean Hannity on Monday night about the impact the murder of Washington Post reporter Jamal Khashoggi could have on peace efforts in the Middle East.

“I think our intelligence agencies are making their assessments,” Kushner said. “And we’re hoping to make sure that there’s justice brought where that should be.”

The non-answer follows reports — which Hannity, predictably did not mention — that Kushner has been in close contact with the crown prince of Saudi Arabia and has given him advice on how to respond to international outrage over his alleged involvement in the killing. Republican and Democratic lawmakers alike are outraged by the murder and some Republicans have even spoken out against the administration for waffling on Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s involvement in the plot.
