WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton met with a group of mothers whose African-American children died in gun shootings.

Clinton shared the “heartbreaking stories” of their children, according to a statement released by her campaign on Monday night. She also outlined her criminal justice and gun control proposals.

Attendees included the mothers of Tamir Rice and Michael Brown, both killed by police, and Trayvon Martin, the 17-year-old whose 2012 shooting sparked national protests.

Racial issues have risen to the top of the Democratic primary agenda, largely due to the Black Lives Matter movement. On Friday, Clinton was repeatedly disrupted by protestors during a speech in Atlanta.

She met with the families in the midst of a fundraising swing through Chicago before flying to Iowa for campaign stops.

Good for her. She’s a savvy politician, but this is also a kindness on her part.

  2. How pathetic!

Just more of the “Black Lives Matter” crap.

If black lives matter so much, why don’t blacks stop taking them?

  3. Way to go, Hillary. I’m very impressed by how seriously she’s taking this issue.
