Though former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s work with Special Counsel Robert Mueller may be drawing to a close, prosecutors are still investigating a Turkish lobbying effort in which he was involved.

According to a Wednesday New York Times report, a grand jury has been empaneled to hear evidence about Flynn’s alleged discussions with Turkish officials about kidnapping a cleric living in Pennsylvania.

The case is referenced in some detail in Mueller’s sentencing memo.

This is I think an incorrect read. Flynn has not stopped cooperating, rather he has done so much cooperating, that the Special Counsel has decided to allow him to be sentenced, which will allow him to get on with his life.

Mueller is sending a signal to people that “if you cooperate, like Flynn and Cohen, and be honest with us, you can get on with your life” but if you don’t and listen to the Mob Boss’s twitter pleas not to rat him out, and go for the implied offer of a pardon, we will throw you away into a hole where you will die (see Pauli, soon to be PauliGirl…)

This is very typical in mob cases, after a while the US Attorney decides the witness is totally on their side, and they get them sentenced and into witness protection, from which they continue to give testimony, as needed, as they get on with their lives.

Lots of murders and drug dealers have gotten off with little or no time, by bringing down the big fish. The Big Fish (Trump, Trump Jr., Stone, Percale, possibly Ivanka and her little lightweight husband, and my guess Betsy DeVos’s brother Erik Prince) are what counts.
