Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) criticized President Obama and his economic advisors for siding with Wall Street during the financial crisis.
“He picked his economic team and when the going got tough, his economic team picked Wall Street,” she said in an interview with Salon published Sunday.
“They protected Wall Street,” she continued. “Not families who were losing their homes. Not people who lost their jobs. Not young people who were struggling to get an education. And it happened over and over and over.”
Warren also noted however, that Obama has protected the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which Warren proposed in 2007.
“If Barack Obama had not been president of the United States we would not have a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Period. I’m completely convinced of that,” she said.
'Nuff said.
The headline could have just as easily said “Warren praises Obama”, with the criticism buried just like the praise was.
But no. The inclusion of Warren “hitting” Obama, with the hyped picture, the mention of Wall St., and the indirect mention of Larry Summers was too easy to pass up by TPM, so expect an infestation of trolling. But hey! Clicks, clicks, clicks!!!
Edited for grammar.
So, keeping the country out of another Great Depression didn’t help any families, working people or young people – that’s awfully shortsighted.
his economic team picked Wall Street
Of course they did. The .001 percent is all that mattered to them.
Senator Warren contradicted herself. How could President Obama have “protected” Wall Street, yet also allowed for the CFPB, which placed stricter regulations on Wall Street?
