The GOP has been taking President Obama to task over the recent bankruptcy of Solyndra, a solar firm that was touted by the White House as a provider of new green jobs. Yet, the Democrats are arguing that there is plenty of blame to go around in this case: GOP lobbyists helped the company, which was led by a registered Republican. Governor Schwarzenegger, a prominent GOP governor, also took a personal interest in the firm, visiting the company several times.

As White House spokesman Eric Schultz pointed out, “This loan guarantee was pursued by both the Bush and Obama administrations.” Indeed, the company received its first federal funding thanks to a program in the 2005 energy law signed by then-President Bush and passed by a Republican-controlled Congress.
