Donald Trump washed his hands of the criticisms stirred by his speculations about Vince Foster’s death, telling reporters at a press conference Thursday that he was only answering a question that had been asked of him and that, “I don’t think it’s something that should really be part of the campaign.”

“I really know nothing about the Vince Foster situation. I haven’t known anything about it,” Trump said. “And somebody asked me the question the other day and I said that a lot of people are skeptical as to what happened and how he died. I know nothing about it.”

Foster was a deputy White House counsel for the Clinton administration whose 1993 death was ruled a suicide by multiple investigations. Earlier this week, Trump aired an old conspiracy that Foster’s death was a murder and the Clintons were involved in an interview with the Washington Post. Trump said the circumstances around Foster’s death were “very fishy” and that the accusations of foul play were “very serious,” while floating that Foster had “intimate knowledge of what was going on” with the Clintons.

Foster’s sister published a Washington Post op-ed Thursday condemning the speculation as “cruel” and “irresponsible,” which Trump was asked to respond to at his press conference later that day.

While Trump appeared to distance himself from the earlier comments, he also suggested that he would be willing to talk about the conspiracy if “some evidence to the contrary of what I’ve seen comes up.”

“If you people reveal something to me, I’ll answer it the appropriate way,” Trump said.

  3. For the last time, stop making me talk about Vince Foster’s suspicious death so much, you lying reporters who keep asking me about the suspicions surrounding Vince Foster’s suspicious death that I don’t even know anything about.

Honest to Christ, he makes Nixon look like Heidi’s grandfather. More disgusting and contemptible every day.
