The Oregon judge facing an ethics investigation after he allegedly refused to marry same-sex couples is also under scrutiny for hanging a photo of Adolf Hitler in his courthouse.
Reuters reported Wednesday that Marion County Judge Vance Day was hit with complaints of displaying a picture of Hitler in the county courthouse and allowing a veteran to handle a firearm despite being having a felony conviction, in addition to the complaint for not performing same-sex marriages. The state’s Commission on Judicial Fitness and Disability announced the complaints in a Tuesday notice, according to Reuters.
A spokesman for Day dismissed the complaint about the Hitler photo and told the news outlet that the judge was honoring World War II veterans, not the Nazi dictator.
“We went to war against Hitler,” spokesman Patrick Korten told Reuters. “His picture was there. It was not admiringly. It was him as the epitome of the enemy that we went to fight against.”
Oops! Turns out it was Charlie Chaplin in The Great Dictator.
I guess it’s a good thing the judge thought better of passing out those Ho Chi Minh beer coozies.
You do not hang photos of men like Hitler in your office if you don’t worship him.
This guy sounds incompetent to do his job, honestly.
Oh, I don’t know, kinda sounds like your average, garden variety conservative to me.
Picture of Hitler was there next to that of Obama, to let everyone know who the enemy is.
