Universal Music’s $1.9B Acquisition of EMI Approved By U.S. and European Regulators

Univeral Music’s (parent company Vivendi) planned $1.9 billion acquisition of rival label EMI has been approved by both the Federal Trade Commission and The European Commission, the EU’s antitrust regulator, making the combined companies the largest music label in the world and reducing the number of major labels globally from four to three, Variety reported Friday.
