Donald Trump addressed the attempted coup in Turkey on Saturday during his formal announcement of his running mate, Indiana Gov. Mike Pence.

“We wish them well,” Trump said, speaking from New York City.

Chaos unfolded in Turkey as some members of the military attempted a coup. the Turkish government has said the situation is under control, but the violence of the night left at least 161 people dead, CNN reported.

“So many friends in Turkey. Great people, amazing people. We wish them well,” Trump said. “A lot of anguish last night, but hopefully it will all work out.”

Trump went on to introduce Pence in a long, rambling address that, at times, deviated back to his expected stump speech in which he also complimented his own business achievements.
