Paul Manafort, chair of the Donald Trump campaign, said on Wednesday morning that Trump still has no plans to release his tax returns despite questions about potential business dealings with Russian interests.
During an interview on CBS’ “This Morning,” co-host Norah O’Donnell noted that Trump has said that he does not have any investments in Russia.
“But does Russia have investments in Trump?” she then asked. “Would Mr. Trump be willing to release his tax returns to provide transparency on this issue?”
Manafort did not say whether Russia has invested in Trump, but said that the Republican nominee still has no plans to release his tax returns.
“Mr. Trump has said that his taxes are under audit, and he will not be releasing them,” he said. “It has nothing to do with Russia. It has nothing to do with any country other than the United States and his normal tax auditing processes.”
Of course he won’t release the returns. Waaaaaay too much to hide. Net worth. Russian financing. Charitable un-donations.
Within the Trump campaign, and with Donald himself, there is a palpable fear in divulging the contents of his tax returns. I think if some imaginary entity decreed either he release them or drop out of the race the GOP would find itself scrambling to replace him on the ticket.
Reading the comments on British newspaper sites gives one an education in new, creative curse words. The Brits have a word for people like Manafort: MUNT
Trump to voter: DROP DEAD
