Donald Trump on Thursday night encouraged Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) to run for re-election to the Senate.

Trump’s tweet followed reports that Republican lawmakers in the Senate were pushing for Rubio to jump into the race.

Politico reported that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) asked the senators in a Republican caucus lunch on Thursday who thought it was a good idea for Rubio to run for re-election, and everyone in the room appeared supportive. And Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX), the No. 2 Republican in the Senate, told CNN that Rubio running for re-election would be “good for the party.”

When asked whether he would file to run for his seat again on Thursday, Rubio told reporters it was “unlikely.”
