Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump released a video on Monday that attacked Jeb Bush by using the words of his mother and former first lady, Barbara Bush, against him.
Trump’s video, which was posted to Instagram, used clips from a “Today Show” interview with Barbara Bush from April 2013, in which she said that she did not want Jeb to run for President.
The attack took sound bites, and some video, from the interview — overlaying Barbara’s words that the United States needs a different family in the White House — with a picture of Trump’s family.
“I think it’s a great country. There are a lot of great families,” Barbara said in the clip Trump used. “There are other people out there that are very qualified, and we’ve had enough Bushes.”
Omitted from Trump’s attack video was Barbara saying in the interview that she thinks Jeb is the “best-qualified” man for the presidency.
The video closed with the text: “Mother Knows Best Jeb!”
