Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s campaign on Friday ejected a New York Times reporter, who’d written a story critical of Trump’s Iowa field organization, from an event in Waukee, Iowa.

In a post for the Times, reporter Trip Gabriel said that he was kicked out of a Pizza Ranch restaurant by a police officer and campaign staffers.

Gabriel was told by an officer, “It’s a private event, you have to go,” even though about 20 other reporters were present at the event.

Gabriel’s initial story concerned the Trump camp’s floundering ground game in the Hawkeye State, including volunteers who had not knocked on any doors and a precinct captain who maintained a 9/11 conspiracy theory website.
