Donald Trump maintained a commanding lead among Republican primary voters in New Hampshire, earning 33 percent support in a Fox News poll released Friday.
Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) came in a distant second with 15 percent, followed by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) with 13 percent.
Trump, whose appeal was balanced among men and women respondents but particularly strong among those without college degrees, rose six points in the Fox poll since the last survey was taken in November.
Poll respondents who identified as “very conservative” were nearly twice as likely to back the real estate mogul over Cruz, with 40 percent saying they support Trump compared to 23 percent for the Texas senator.
His strong lead in the Granite State was enforced in another poll of likely GOP New Hampshire voters released Wednesday by Public Policy Polling, in which Trump received 29 percent support.
In the Fox poll, Trump was trailed by Jeb Bush (9 percent), Ohio Gov. John Kasich (7 percent), and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), who each received 5 percent. Carly Fiorina came in at the bottom of the field with 3 percent.
The polling, which was conducted jointly by Anderson Robins Research (D) and Shaw & Company Research (R), took place between Jan. 4-7 over the telephone. 800 likely Republican primary voters were surveyed, and the margin of error was 4.5 percentage points.
