The White House released a vague statement Monday afternoon, seemingly on National Security Adviser Michael Flynn’s status in the administration.
“The President is evaluating the situation. He’s speaking to Vice President Pence relative to the conversation the Vice President had with Gen. Flynn and also speaking to various other people about what he considers the single most important subject there is: our national security,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer said, according NBC News.
Various outlets reported Monday that Flynn had apologized to Vice President Mike Pence, after it was revealed that Flynn spoke to the Russian ambassador to the United States about sanctions before President Donald Trump’s inauguration.
Before a Thursday Washington Post article detailing Flynn’s call with Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, Pence had defended Flynn against accusations of wrongdoing.
