Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Wednesday that he thought former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina would be a “bad choice” for Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-TX) running mate.
“I think it would be a bad choice. Carly did not resonate at all, not because she’s a woman, but Carly did not resonate at all with people,” Trump said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
Cruz was expected to make a “major announcement” Wednesday at 4 p.m. E.T. No further details were available about the event, but Cruz was rumored to be considering running mates, Fiorina among them.
Fiorina endorsed Cruz after her own bid for the White House failed and has made several stops on the campaign trail alongside the candidate.
In another morning show appearance, Trump tweaked Cruz for vetting running mates in the first place.
“He shouldn’t be naming anyone because he’s millions of votes behind,” Trump said on “Fox & Friends.” “He’s millions of votes behind, he’s hundreds of delegates behind — I mean what is he four or five hundred delegates behind? He’s got no path to victory, and he’s naming a vice presidential candidate. I guess that’s cute.”
