Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump suggested Sunday that he was being audited because he was a big supporter of the Tea Party.

CBS’ “Face the Nation” host John Dickerson asked Trump what he meant by an earlier comment on CNN in which he said that he could be the target of an audit because he’s a Christian.

“I mean, it could be that, it could be because I’m a believer in the Tea Party. I love the Tea Party, I love the people of the Tea Party,” Trump said. “And you know, I have a lot of different likes and maybe dislikes. And I don’t know why, but why is it that every single year I get audited and I have friends that are very wealthy and they’ve never been audited?”

Trump has said that he hasn’t disclosed his taxes yet because of an ongoing audit.
