Newly minted “Daily Show” host Trevor Noah didn’t want House Speaker John Boehner to leave.
“No! Why leave? I just got here. I got a fancy suit and a new set and I learned how to pronounce your name. Boehner,” Noah said on Monday’s premiere.
Despite the heavy news weekend of rapper Fetty Wap’s motorcycle crash and the New York Mets play-off run, Noah made the case for still talking about Boehner’s resignation.
“You cannot make a law in America without the Speaker’s approval. John Boehner has final say on what laws come in and what laws don’t,” Noah said. “He’s basically the bouncer at Club Congress, which is probably the worst club ever.”

Superbly written and delivered piece. Furthermore, except for immigrants, most Americans don’t realize that their will be no vote on a law without the speaker’s say so. Perhaps we owe this insight to his outsider’s perspective.
