Rep. Trent Franks (R-AZ) told The Hill on Tuesday that Planned Parenthood and the gunman who shot and killed three people at its clinic in Colorado have something in common: they both have “no respect for innocent human life.”

Robert Lewis Dear, the 57-year-old suspect charged in the attack, surrendered after an hours-long standoff with police Friday. He reportedly told police after his arrest “no more baby parts,” which could be a reference to heavily edited videos released in recent months that purported to show Planned Parenthood officials discussing the sale of fetal tissue for profit.

Franks, an adamant pro-life supporter, once said Republicans working to defund Planned Parenthood were similar to abolitionists. He told The Hill that the organization itself was no better than the Colorado gunman.

“What this person did was evil, and it should remind us all of the common denominator that Planned Parenthood has with individuals like this who have no respect for innocent human life,” Franks said, according to The Hill.

“It should only increase our commitment to defund organizations … that further this non-ethic of disregarding the sanctity of human life,” he added.

  1. I’d love to hear his take on the death penalty.

  2. If a twelve-week-old fetus is a “human life,” why isn’t Franks introducing legislation requiring all police departments to investigate each and every miscarriage? How do they know that the miscarriage wasn’t the result of intentional maternal negligence, and therefore murder? Why isn’t Franks introducing legislation requiring parents who have experienced a miscarriage to have an official funeral? Why aren’t newspapers required to carry the obituaries of all miscarriages?

  3. GOP are the ones who have no respect at all for human life. When you look at the actions of the GOP then you see a pattern of cold hearts , greed, bigotry/racism, and homophobic behavior.Plus you get to see how they do not give one shit about the future and do all they can to stop any global warming platforms.
GOP = HORRIBLE & COLD PEOPLE.

  4. When an elected Congressman is almost as crazy as the shooter he’s commenting on, we have a problem.

  5. It’s like they take bets on who can say dumber things. He just lumped Planned Parenthood in with a terrorist gunmen. rage…RAGE!!! RAAAAAGE!!!
