Traficant will decide, Monday, May 3, 2010, whether or not he will yet again make a run for Congress, this time as a felon who was convicted of racketeering and bribery and an independent proudly bearing the mantle of the Tea Party, which adores him. Former Rep. Jim Traficant (D-OH) was seriously injured when the tractor he was riding on his daughter’s farm flipped over on Tuesday, according to WFMJ.

Traficant was pulling the tractor into the barn at his daughter’s Mahoning County, Ohio farm. Police told WFMJ that the tractor likely hit a steel blade, causing the tractor to flip over and trap him underneath.

Emergency crews were able to pull Traficant out from under the tractor, and he was then taken to a local hospital.

The congressman’s wife told the Vindicator on Wednesday morning that he is “sedated and he’s not doing well.”

Traficant was released from jail in 2009 after serving seven years for bribery and racketeering charges.

As the Vindicator noted, Traficant’s farm, which is now owned by his daughter, played a role in his corruption trial. He had his staffers work on his horse farm while they were on the federal payroll, and other federal officials and a state investigator said they were bribed into working on his farm in exchange for political favors.
