Celeste Grieg, the president of the conservative California Republican Assembly, has been ousted in the wake of remarks about rape that caused a stir earlier this year, according to the San Joe Mercury News.
Grieg was ousted as president by a 84-78 vote at the organization’s convention over the weekend and replaced by 63-year-old accountant John Briscoe, the paper reported.
In March, she received national attention after claiming that pregnancy from rape is “small because it’s an act of violence, because the body is traumatized.”
