Former NBC anchor Tom Brokaw told Fox News on Monday night that his successor, Brian Williams, is preparing his response to the scandal that got him suspended from his position at “The Nightly News.”

“He is now at a point where he’s, I gather, trying to decide how it is that he’s going to respond,” Brokaw told conservative pundit Sean Hannity.

The internal investigation into Williams’ work has produced at least 10 other examples of fabrications or major embellishments, according to CNN.

Brokaw, who is currently promoting his new book, told the Fox host that the Williams issue was working its way to a conclusion. He also dismissed media reports about his views on Williams and the scandal.

“There’s been way too much speculation,” he said. “I read things attributed to me, or what my state of mind is, completely wrong. Almost all of them.”

A month earlier, Brokaw had rebuked an article in the New York Post saying that he had demanded that NBC fire Williams.
