New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s (R) brother Todd fired back Sunday night at local football fans who were angered by Christie’s support for the Dallas Cowboys NFL team.

“To all of those non Cowboy fans who have their panties in a ringer because the Governor of NJ is a Cowboys fan—GET A LIFE !!!” Todd Christie wrote in a Facebook post. “The Gov has been a Cowboys fan for his entire life and ALL of you would sit with the owner of your favorite team in a heartbeat if given the chance.”

He added that the governor’s critics should be more worried “about the fact that your sorry ass team has never won a Super Bowl and less about who’s rooting for which team.”

Christie previously leapt to his brother’s defense amid the ongoing coverage of last year’s scandal involving lane closures on the George Washington Bridge in September 2013.

He was motivated to take to social media again Sunday when social media erupted over a hug the governor shared with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones (after failing to complete a high-five) at AT&T Stadium in Texas while celebrating the team’s playoff win over the Detroit Lions.

Chris Christie has been a lifelong Cowboys fan, which puts the potential 2016 presidential contender at odds with New Jersey residents who root for the New York Giants, the New York Jets or the Philadelphia Eagles.
