Six words New Yorkers never expected to hear: Time Warner Cable to the rescue. The company on Thursday announced it would be sending vehicles with recharge stations and WiFi hotspots throughout the still-powerless swaths of lower Manhattan (mainly below 39th street), which have been dark since Superstorm Sandy rolled through on Monday night. TWC asked users to follow its Twitter account, @TWCable_NYC for updates about the locations of the vehicles.
The company also pledged $600,000 in donations to relief efforts.
Time Warner Cable maintains a dominant market share over the New York City area cable TV and internet services but isn’t exactly known for stellar service during non-crisis times.
