When it comes to hyperbole, why stop at Hitler?

California Assemblyman Tim Donnelly, who is also a Republican candidate for governor, on Tuesday tweeted an image that lumped President Barack Obama together with Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, Kim Jon Il, and King George III as “people [who] stood for gun control.”

According to The Los Angeles Times, Donnelly has made “expansion of gun rights a central part of his platform.” He practices what he preaches, too. In 2012, Donnelly got three years of probation for taking a handgun to an airport. Donnelly said he accidentally left the weapon — which wasn’t even registered to him — in his briefcase.
