The progressive magazine The Nation endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) for President on Thursday morning—just the third endorsement the news outlet has made in its 150-year history.
“We believe such a revolution is not only possible but necessary—and that’s why we’re endorsing Bernie Sanders for president,” the editors wrote.
The Nation endorsed Rev. Jesse Jackson in 1988 and President Barack Obama in 2008. It is the first national media organization to make a presidential endorsement in the 2016 primary race.
“We do so now impelled by the awareness that our rigged system works for the few and not for the many,” the editors wrote. “Americans are waking up to this reality, and they are demanding change.”
The endorsement is the cover story of the Feb. 8 edition, according to CNN. Read the entire endorsement here.
