2014: this time, it’s Biblical.
At least that’s the aim of one Texas mayor. Tom Hayden, mayor of Flower Mound, Texas, has issued an official announcement declaring 2014 the “Year of the Bible.”
“I was nervous about doing this,” Hayden told television station KDFW. “And I’ve been thinking about it for two years, and procrastinated about if for as long as I possibly could.”
The symbolic proclamation does not carry the force of law and was not voted on by the city council. As KDFW noted, Hayden’s action was inspired by a nearly identical proclamation by former President Ronald Reagan in 1983.
