In a fundraising pitch on his blog Wednesday night, Texas Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst (R) accused the scores of pro-choice protesters who flooded the state Senate earlier this week to halt a tough abortion measure of using “Obama-style, mob-rule politics.”

The language was similar to Dewhurst’s comments after the abortion bill failed amid pandemonium in the state capitol in Austin, Texas when he said the protesters used “Occupy Wall Street tactics.”

Although a filibuster led by state Sen. Wendy Davis (D) to block the bill fell short, the anti-abortion legislation ultimately died anyway when Republicans failed to pass it before the deadline, thanks in large part to disruptions caused by the protesters. Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) has scheduled an additional special session for next month to pass what would be the toughest abortion law in the country.

“Obama-style, mob-rule politics exploded in the Texas Senate on the final day of the first special session, derailing legislation of great importance to Texans,” Dewhurst wrote on his blog, linking to a page where supporters can donate to his re-election campaign.
