Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) said in a recent interview that the only person responsible for a potential impeachment of Barack Obama is the President himself.

“So if an impeachment comes up, it’s not because Congress wants to do that, it’s because the president has chosen to bring that upon himself by not enforcing the laws on the books,” the congressman said during an interview last week with the group Tea Party Express. The interview was highlighted Monday by Buzzfeed.

“If he doesn’t like a law he needs to get that changed, not wave his pen and use his phone and he has arrogantly stated over and over again,” he added.

Yoho also made sure to note his longterm support for impeachment, boasting that he and other lawmakers have clashed with the GOP leadership on the issue before.

“We did this about 11 to 12 months ago,” he said. “They didn’t want to go to the lawsuit or even talk about impeachment.”
