Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) on Tuesday night attempted to laugh off his inability to list all five agencies he wants to eliminate as part of his tax plan when answering a question during the debate.

Cruz named only four agencies, listing the Department of Commerce twice.

After the Fox Business Network Debate, Fox News’ Megyn Kelly asked Cruz about his “Rick Perry moment,” alluding to the moment during a 2012 presidential debate when the former Texas governor was unable to recall all three federal agencies he wanted to abolish.

“I just think the Department of Commerce is such a base of cronyism, we need to eliminate it twice,” Cruz joked in response to Kelly’s question.

He then said he failed to list the Department of Education.

“I have been campaigning for a long time on repealing Common Core, abolishing the Department of Education, and granting that money back to the states so education can be handled on the state and local level,” Cruz said.
