In advance of a scheduled April 10th ceasefire agreed to by the Syrian government, Syrian opposition forces accused President Assad’s government of launching heavy attacks on Tuesday. The attacks on the opposition stronghold of Homs and the border city of Zabadani are intended, say observers, to decimate the opposition before the ceasefire takes effect. Syrian rebels as well as Western officials also note that President Assad has reneged on many promises before.
